About

Joy has walked with pottery throughout her life.

She began as a child shadowing her mother in a rural studio in North Western-Australia, she trained in Fine Arts at UWA and has been the Ceramics teacher at Perth Waldorf  School for the past 5 years.

Joy expresses a deep appreciation for the meditative nature of pottery, for working with your hands and connecting with our primal practice of sculpting raw earth and turning it into something practical, or something beautiful.

Joy is passionate about making art accessible to everyone in the community and finding connection and creativity in meaningful ways.

“Clay can be captivating in a way that is different to painting. It is more hands on, it stimulates our life forces, as well as touch, smell and sight.”

“I want to share the joys of pottery with the community in a way that is accessible, light-hearted and fun.”

Pottery with Joy offers Friday night single session classes for community members to experience handbuilding pottery in a joyful and relaxed setting, welcoming friend groups, dates, family bonding or opportunities for personal experiences.
